Black & White: Life’s the Gray Zone
Black & White: Life’s the Gray Zone
I’m a right/left, forward/backward, black/white kind of gal . . . I like things cut & dry. Give it to me straight, no slight turns, angles or grays. I want to have a plan for the next day. So that when I open my eyes, I have a check list & see it through until the end of the day.
☀️✔️☑️
Except . . . I’m a farmer, where your accomplished check list must line up perfectly with ->
1. The weather
2. The seasons
3. The breakdowns
4. My attitude
5. My husbands attitude
In these last 4 years, I’ve had to re-wire my brain to learn how to be “okay” with Jason’s - fly by the seat of his pants - attitude.
Talk about a gray zone. There is no set schedule. No planned day. No planning at all actually. Just go with it. However, it has taught me that life can be better enjoyed when you don’t schedule every minute of every day. When you enjoy the grays. The unexpected curves life throws in throughout the day.
I’m still learning, adjusting, to these new colors. I’m still navigating how to adjust at a moments notice & not be thrown into a full blown panic attack. But hey, that’s the job right? Farming isn’t always a straight line through the day. There are lots of turns, angles, grays.
No matter what we plan for the day, life happens, sh!t happens. I’ve really struggled lately with creating a routine in the last 2 years - trying to meet deadlines & accomplish personal goals along the way. Somewhere in the gray - it became very difficult to see WHY I showed up at all.
