Rest. Recovery. Healing. A journey to 2024 …

There are a few phone calls that as a farmer you don’t like getting. Mainly you never want to have livestock out … but this fall I got one I was not at all prepared for. But then I don’t think any of us truly are when it involves a doctors office and more tests.

2023 was a wild ride…. It was blessed with a lot of new things, but ALOT of things that were the same. Lots of hay. Hot weather.. and me feeling not my best a good portion of the time.

After hay season wound down, I made time for myself & set up a few appointments I’d put off. October was hard. It was filled with appointments. Anxiety. And words no one wants to hear. Words I haven’t really processed myself completely let alone shared. During a routine appointment we found some very unhappy cells. Precancerous ones. That led to where we are today.

January 21. 2 weeks after having a Hysterectomy. Rest. And recovery. Healing. Acceptance. Finding peace. Being thankful for the “off season”.

With the help of the wonderful girls at Lilac Market Headbands, I am proud to wear the color Peach. And share one of their beautiful designs, the Peach cancer ribbon for Endometrial (Uterine ) Cancer Ribbon. Women’s cancer does not only come in a pink ribbon but others may need to get aware of the silent cancer of the uterus. Something I would have missed had it not been a routine appointment and urging from friends to get checked out.
