75 Healing: Grit & Grace | Day 9

Choose Hope — Finding Balance When Life Feels Full

Sunday, August 9, 2026

“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” — Romans 15:13

Today’s Word: HOPE

Day 9.

The alfalfa at home is cut.

Which, in farm-wife-and-hay-maker language, means one thing:

Here we go again. 🌾

Another busy week in the hay fields is waiting for us. More bales to make. More numbers to add to barns that are already looking pretty darn full. We’re making the final plunge into second-cut grass, while knowing there’s still a fifth cutting of alfalfa waiting for us down the road.

The end of hay season is somewhere out there.

We just can’t quite see it yet.

And honestly, life feels a little like that right now too.

There are appointments filling the calendar. Practices starting again. School routines creeping closer. Farm work. Housework. Content. Family. Responsibilities.

All the little things that individually aren’t that overwhelming somehow pile themselves together until your brain starts screaming:

HOW ARE WE GOING TO DO ALL OF THIS?!

And that’s where Day 9 of 75 Healing: Grit & Grace meets me.

Not after I’ve figured everything out.

Right here.

In the middle of it.

Choosing Hope Instead of Overwhelm

Hope doesn’t require me to pretend everything is wonderful.

It doesn’t require a color-coded calendar, an empty laundry basket or every field perfectly baled before the next rain.

Hope simply asks me to believe there is still goodness ahead.

Romans 15:13 doesn’t say we’ll overflow with hope because we’ve gotten our lives under control.

It says we find joy, peace and hope as we trust in Him.

Maybe that’s the lesson I need today.

Stop trying to carry the entire week on Sunday.

Today has enough of its own.

The hay will get baled.

We’ll make the appointments.

We’ll get where we need to go.

The school stuff will eventually get organized.

The house may or may not stay clean.

And somewhere in between all of it, I’m going to keep working on me too.

Not because I’m trying to create some perfectly disciplined version of myself.

Because I’m healing.

What 75 Healing Looks Like Today

This journey isn’t about losing 30 pounds in 75 days.

I mean… if that happens to be someone’s goal and they crush it, fantastic.

But that’s not the finish line here.

I’m trying to build a healthier relationship with my body, my mind and, most importantly, God.

So today I’m returning to the anchors:

MOVE.
Move my body because I’m grateful it still carries me.

BREATHE.
Get outside for at least 20 minutes. Feel the sunshine. Walk through the farm. Look across a freshly cut field. Remember there is a whole world outside the noise in my head.

ABIDE.
Open my Bible. Read God’s Word before consuming everyone else’s.

NOURISH.
Drink the dang water. Eat the protein. Fuel my body without obsessing over whether every macro is perfect.

REFLECT.
Be honest about where I am today.

No perfection required.

Just participation.

Day 9 Workout | Hope + Movement

Today’s workout isn’t punishment for something you ate yesterday.

We’re moving because our bodies were created to move.

20-Minute Grounding Walk

Head outside for twenty minutes.

Walk the driveway. Check cattle. Walk around the farm. Wander through your garden. Take the dog.

There is no pace goal today.

Put the phone away if you can.

Look around.

Breathe.

Pray.

Then complete 3 rounds (or as many as you can in 20 mins!):

  • 12 bodyweight squats
  • 12 alternating reverse lunges per leg
  • 12 push-ups — wall, knees or full
  • 12 glute bridges
  • 12 standing knee-to-elbow crunches per side
  • 30-second plank

Finish with 2–3 minutes of stretching and slow breathing.

Today’s Movement Intention

I’m not moving my body because I hate where I am. I’m moving it because I’m hopeful about where I’m going.

Today’s Journal

Take five quiet minutes and answer:

Where am I allowing worry about tomorrow to steal today’s peace?

Then write down:

3 things you’re grateful for today.

1 thing you’re worried about.

1 thing you’re giving to God.

And finally:

One thing you’re hopeful for.

It doesn’t have to be profound.

Sometimes hope looks like believing tomorrow might simply hurt a little less than today.

That counts too.

What I’m Using Along the Journey

📖 The Bible I’m Reading

One of my favorite parts of this challenge has been physically opening my Bible, highlighting verses and writing down what stands out to me.

I’m currently using my Kingfolk Co Bible, and if you’d like to grab the same one—or browse their Bible and faith collection—you can shop through my link below.

💪 What I’m Using From 1st Phorm

Fitness during this season needs to be realistic.

I’m not trying to survive on chicken and broccoli or obsess over hitting every number perfectly.

My biggest nutrition goals right now are pretty simple:

Eat enough protein. Drink enough water. Fuel my body well.

These are a few of the 1st Phorm products I’m currently reaching for during 75 Healing:

You can find my current favorites through my Chronicles of Kayla link:

Before You Go…

If your week already feels overwhelming and it hasn’t even really started yet, this is your reminder—and mine:

We don’t have to carry Monday on Sunday.

We don’t have to carry September in August.

And we certainly don’t have to figure out the next 66 days of this journey today.

We have Day 9.

Fresh-cut alfalfa.

A body capable of moving.

A Bible we can open.

Water to drink.

Food to nourish us.

People to love.

Work worth doing.

And a God who already knows what tomorrow holds.

That’s enough for today.

Choose hope.

There is still hay to make.

There is still healing to do.

There is still life to live.

And there is still so much hope ahead. 🤍🌾
