A Journey through 2024

Day 6 post surgery ….

January 13, 2024

This has been my view since coming home Monday evening. Plus or Minus the Kitty at times. Jae has slept by my bed on the floor, playing nurse with school being out all week due to weather conditions.

My farmer heart broke last night. The guilt of not being able to help Jason at all with blizzard conditions to now a polar vortex… with negative temperatures causing all sorts of headaches.

It’s hard to sit and rest knowing your partner (and kiddo who’s stepping into fill my boots) is spending hours outside why your snuggle in a warm blanket with pups to keep you company.

I knew going into this surgery I would be down for numerous weeks. But what I wasn’t prepared for was the mind game that I would put ON MYSELF.

2024 is proving to already show me a lot of things …

Rest.
Recovery.
Patience.
Learning to let go of what I Cannot control.
Trusting in the Lords time and place.

I am so thankful for all of y’all that have reached out this week, sent emails, cards, gift boxes, messages and so much love. It really means the world to me.

It’s going to be a journey this year …

The word that continues to stick with me for 2024 has been, Journey. This one word is helping me to make daily purposeful decisions that keep me moving forward, even when the going gets tough. It’s about knowing that some days will work the way we planned and giving ourselves grace on the days that don’t.

It’s about the JOURNEY not the Destination.

When I think about the word “journey”, I think about all the ways that it can be interpreted and, therefore, meaningful. Whether it’s a journey you’ve yet to begin, or one that you’ve been meaning to complete – prioritize it. It could be a mental journey (like finally making an appointment with a therapist), or physical (like booking that Euro-trip you’ve been talking about for years). Your journey could be long (trekking through Peru), or short (taking the stairs instead of the escalator). It could be spiritual, emotional; one of bringing forth, or one of letting go.
