🌾 Chronicles of Kayla | Filling Your Own Empty Cup 🌾

The fields are quiet now. The hay barns are full, the dust has settled, and the hum of harvest has finally faded into stillness.

There’s a unique kind of exhaustion that comes when the work is finally done — not just in your body, but deep in your spirit. For weeks (or months), you run on adrenaline and purpose, pouring everything you have into the work before you. Then suddenly… it’s over. The silence feels strange, and your cup feels empty.

After giving so much to the land, the livestock, and the people you love, it’s easy to forget that your own soul needs tending too. But just like the soil, we need rest to be ready for the next season.

This time of year, I find myself craving stillness — slow mornings with coffee in hand, prayers whispered into quiet air, and moments to simply breathe and thank God for carrying us through another season.

Because filling your own cup isn’t selfish — it’s sacred. You can’t pour love, patience, or grace from an empty one. The same God who gives us the strength to endure the long days of harvest also calls us to rest and be renewed in Him.

✨ “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” — Matthew 11:28

So this week, I’m giving myself permission to pause. To pray. To rest. To let God refill what the harvest has drained.

Here’s to tending our souls the way we tend our fields — with care, intention, and faith that the next season will bring new growth. 💛

🌿 A Prayer for Rest After Harvest

Heavenly Father,
Thank You for the strength You gave us through the long days and the blessings of another harvest. As the fields rest and the barns are full, help my heart find stillness too.

Remind me that rest is not weakness — it’s worship.
That slowing down gives You room to restore what hard work has worn thin.

Fill my empty cup, Lord, with Your peace, Your presence, and Your promise of renewal.
Teach me to lay my worries down and trust that You are still at work, even in the quiet seasons.

In Jesus’ name,
Amen.
