✨ Ever Heard of “Farmer Time”? ✨

There’s a phrase that gets tossed around a lot once you step into this life: “farmer time.”
It’s not on a clock.
It’s not in a planner.
And it absolutely doesn’t care that I’m a Type A, color-coded, “tell me the plan” kind of person.

I used to think if I prepared well enough, planned far enough ahead, and stayed organized—I could make every day unfold exactly the way I imagined…

And then farming stepped in and said,
“Yeah… that’s cute.”

Out here, life moves according to weather, cattle, equipment, and a whole lot of unknowns. One minute you’re ahead, the next minute you’re three hours behind and searching for a crescent wrench you just had in your hand.

Some days flow easy—
the work gets done,
the sun cooperates,
and even the cows behave like they read your schedule.

And then… there are the other days.

The days when you’re feeding in the dark because a hydraulic line blew at 4 p.m.
The days when your perfectly laid-out plan gets flipped upside down by a sick calf or a surprise storm.
The days when you find yourself laughing at the chaos because crying would take too long.

Those days?
That’s farmer time at its finest.

And it’s also where God whispers:
“Let go. Trust Me. I know the timing, even when you don’t.”

Because this life—this beautiful, wild, muddy, sacred life—is living on a prayer.
You plan. You prepare. You work hard.
But you step into each day knowing the outcome is ultimately God’s.

I’ve learned that farmer time doesn’t fight my Type A heart…
it refines it.

It teaches me to stay organized, but surrender outcomes.
To show up with intention, but accept interruption.
To be grateful for good days…
and for good tractor lights on the hard ones.

Out here, we’re not running on the clock.
We’re running on faith, grit, grace,
and maybe a little caffeine.

And honestly?
There’s so much beauty in a life that doesn’t run on time—
but runs on God’s timing.

📖 Scripture

Proverbs 16:9
“In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps.”

🙏 Prayer

Lord, thank You for the blessing and the wildness of this farming life.
Teach me to hold my plans loosely and trust You with every unexpected turn.
Give me peace when the day runs off track, strength when the work is heavy, and gratitude for the light You shine—whether it’s daylight or tractor lights guiding me in the dark.
Direct my steps, calm my spirit, and help me find You in every moment of farmer time.
Amen.
