There’s something about stepping into December that feels a little like walking into a storm and a sanctuary at the same time. The air gets colder, the lists get longer, the days get shorter, and suddenly the world is shouting hustle while our hearts whisper slow down.
But friend… we weren’t built for the madness the holidays have manifested into.
We were created for peace, for purpose, and for remembering the true meaning of Christmas — the gift of a Savior who stepped into our world so we’d never have to walk through the chaos alone.
Out here in the cattle barn, December doesn’t pause for peppermint lattes, gift wrapping, or crowded calendars. The chores stay the same. The cattle still need care. And maybe that’s why I treasure this season so much — because God reminds me every single morning that the best gifts aren’t bought… they’re given.
Grace. Mercy. Breath in our lungs. Family. A warmed-up barn.
And Jesus — the greatest present of all.
This year, I’m grounding my December in something simple and steady:
Reading one chapter of Luke each day.
There are 24 chapters.
Start on December 1st, finish on Christmas Eve.
And by Christmas morning, you’ll have read the full story of Jesus — His birth, His ministry, His miracles, His heart.
A reset for the soul.
A reminder of the truth.
A way to find calm with the chaos.

Let’s walk through this story together, one page at a time.
Let’s step into this month with gentleness, with gratitude, and with the steady reminder that God is present — fully, faithfully, and forever.
“Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.” — Luke 2:14
Peace — right where you are. Right in the chaos. Right in December.
Lord, as we step into December, quiet our hearts from the rush of the world and anchor us in Your truth. Help us slow down, breathe deeper, and remember what this season is truly about. As we read through Luke, open our eyes to the story that changed everything — the story of Jesus. Bring peace to our homes, calm to our minds, and Your presence into every part of our days. Amen. 🤍
